New
new - n. recent, fresh
We all love new things. New shoes, new clothes, new hairstyles, new electronics, new movies, you name it. The list could go on. The funny thing about new things is that they're only new temporarily. Things will break, deteriorate, tear, rip, crack, shatter. Material objects will not stay perfect. They fade, they pass away, the lose their purpose once used to their specified intent. They have a limit. They can only be used so much, then, they will need to be repaired or even replaced. Even then, they still won't last forever. We all greatly dislike when our new things begin to possess imperfections because of their usage and other factors. Seam rips, ink stains, cracked phone screens, chips. There's nothing enjoyable about things becoming imperfect and unusable. When you were born, you were pure. Couldn't speak, walk, do things on your own, you depended on your mother to cherish you. As you grew older, you'd begin to gain independence. You learned how to walk, talk, eat on your own, stop drinking your mother's milk, run, express your thoughts, and show characteristics that make you, you. You learn the word "no" and the differences between good and bad. Then, you realize that you have free will, and you take a toy from another child, or you lie about something that happened, a common phrase being "I didn't do it!" You take that into your older childhood years, and eventually into your teen years. "What bad could a little lie do?" All teens aren't rebels, but it's in the teen years that you are learning more about yourself, and that you're discovering what you like. Unfortunately, many teens get caught up in drugs, alcohol, and partying, attempting to fill a void that only the Lord can fill. Something that amazes me, is that you can never be too caught up in sin that you can't be forgiven, you're never far from the arms of Jesus, and you're not too deep in sin to be unable to receive grace and mercy. When you are born again, you are made completely new. Your slate is wiped clean, and your sins, forgiven. The grace of God is always available, and His mercy covers our sin. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" The Lord makes us new creatures when we are born again. What n amazing thought. All of our past mistakes and regrets are nullified. We are covered in the blood of the Lamb, and we are free because of the Lord's sacrifice and love.
