Wait

Wait - v. to be inactive, to pause, or to be in a state of repose until something happens

Waiting. It's never fun, neither enjoyable. It's not something that people react positively to. We want results as soon as possible, especially those who are living in a western society. We've created things such as fast food restaurants, drive thru windows, microwave meals, and fast passes at amusement parks because of our impatience and demand to receive things the instant that we request them. We have to wait in lines, wait at stop lights, and wait in life because everything can't go at the pace we wish them to, and there are people, just like us, who have things to accomplish. People often refer to waiting as a "waste of time" but in fact, it isn't. For example, if you go to an amusement park, and the wait for a ride you've been yearning to go on is two hours long, you'll most likely be willing to wait because you know that in the end, once you've gotten off of the coaster, the wait would've been well worth it. Or if you go to a five star restaurant on a busy night, it would be senseless to walk out after you've ordered your food just because it didn't come out as quickly as expected. The same thing goes with the Lord, except, we may not always see the result. We have to wait on His timing, because it's always perfect. God knows exactly what He's doing. He sees the past, present, and future simultaneously. He is omnipresent. Why do we often worry about things so much when they are in God's hands, and He knows what is best for us? We must wait on Jesus. He sees the results that we don't see. He sees our future. He sees everything. We have to learn to trust in Him. I can recall to an experience I had a few years ago. I had been praying for something specific for a while. Months. As time went by, I felt as if God wasn't listening anymore. I was getting impatient. I began to lose faith, but I kept praying because I knew, deep down in my heart, that God was listening, whether or not I felt like He was. One night, I prayed, as I usually did, and the Lord answered me, and He was right on time. Not too early, not too late. His timing was perfect. I learned something that night. I learned that throughout the waiting process, the Lord is making us stronger, and He's molding us into the godly people that He's destined us to be. Day by day. He is working. There hasn't been one single moment when the Lord hasn't heard your cry or been there with you when you cried yourself to sleep. What determines your attitude during the waiting process is your perspective. You can either say to yourself, "Ugh. I don't want to wait, why can't God just answer me now?" or "I believe that this is in the hands of my Maker, and that resolution will occur whenever God allows it." I'm not saying that you'll either hate waiting or you'll enjoy it, but I am saying that you don't have to carry an unnecessary burden if you trust in the Lord. If you wait on Jesus, you will surely be blessed. Waiting can either be gruesome, or reassuring. You choose. Regardless, His timing is always prefect.

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

-Micah
